How Aldactone (Spironolactone) Works

Aldactone, with the chemical name of Spironolactone, was developed by the U.S. FDA and approved for use in treating coronary disorders and hypertension, removing excess salt and fluids in the kidneys.

Aldactone is effective in treating coronary disorders and hypertension, as it inhibits the production of the hormone aldosterone, which causes salt and fluid retention, the kidneys.

  • Spironolactone, sold under the brand name Aldactone United States, is a mild diuretic potassium, which prevents the body from absorbing too much salt and regulates blood potassium levels.
  • In patients with heart disease and cirrhosis of the liver, the kidneys retain abnormal amounts of blood and fluid, due to increased levels of hormone called aldosterone, produced by the adrenal glands.
  •  Aldactone inhibits the action of aldosterone, triggering the kidneys to excrete salt and fluid while retaining potassium. Aldactone maintains the potassium needed by the body, while inducing the urine.
  •  Aldactone is most effective when medication is taken daily, with doses starting at 100mg. But do not take this medication after 6 PM. Take with a full glass of water, and do not take a double dose if you forget to take medication. Aldactone is the recommended medical treatment for heart disease and kidney disorders. Also, is the ideal treatment for high blood pressure and prevent heart attacks and strokes.
